Rio Rancho Foursquare Church

Welcome to Arms of Love Fellowship

We call ourselves Arms of Love because we believe that actions speak louder than words and as Christians, we are called to be the arms of love to those in need. Our goal in pastoring is not so much to grow a big church, but to grow big people.

Our Mission

To be the salt of Rio Rancho by feeding the hungry, replenishing the thirsty, welcoming the strangers, clothing the naked, and visiting the sick and imprisoned.

Weekly Pastor's Corner

August 29, Pastor Marty Himmel

God loves to teach his children. So often, parents will have "teachable moments" with their kids. These moments are typically unplanned and unexpected, yet parents need to be ready at all times to teach their children. God is the same way, except His are always planned and He is always ready. So for us, we should "be ready in season and out of season" (2 Timothy 4:2) - both to receive teaching and to teach others.

About a month ago on one of our trips to minister to the homeless, God used this with me. As I was walking around handing out water, a guy asked me for my sunglasses. I started to say "No, I need them." Before I could even get the sentence out (barely started, for that matter), the Holy Spirit spoke in my mind - "Really? They're $10 at Walmart. You can go buy another pair. You don't 'need' them anyway." Wow, that was a selfish first thought. Yes, Lord. So I handed the sunglasses to him. All of this took place in about 2 seconds. The guy was surprised I actually gave them to him, and another guy next to him said, "Ask and you shall receive." So I took the off handed comment and ran with it - using it as a teachable moment as God directed after my own rebuke.

God will use our own shortcomings for His glory if we'll allow him to. As in that example, God turned what would have been an act of selfishness into an act of giving and teaching - blessing that one person. We should be willing to receive instruction and correction for God at all times - not just when it's convenient for us. If it's in our time, nothing will change; if it's in His time, we will be transformed. To expand on Paul's words to Timothy, don't just be ready at all times, but be willing at all times.
